Good morning world...

I am up... are you?

Have I ever told you how much I dislike getting up before 9:00am in the morning? No good can come of getting up so early. It's treachery really! I am a homeschooling mom... we don't have to be up to get everyone out the door for school... so why oh why do people think it necessary to call and wake me up before 9:00? I mean haven't THEY heard the rule... 9 to 9 if fine, before or after, call another time. I taught that to the girls just the other day. And I didn't make it up! It's a real etiquette rule!

So please, for the love of all that is right and sane... look at your watch and pause a moment before picking up the phone and calling anyone before 9:00am... specially me! I just can't handle no sleep.

TWO people called yesterday before 9. And it was not a pretty sight. I didn't have pretty thoughts to think about those two people. One was Dell, but I hung up on their automated system (later to find out they were letting me know my replacement laptop would arrive that afternoon). The other was a gal from church asking me to come to a meeting on Sunday.

But my excuse for being up this morning is that I am doing a favor for a friend. No phones rudely woke me up from my slumber, just one annoying alarm.

And to prove nothing good can come of getting up so early... Its 8:50 and I have been up for at least an hour and half and talked to my friend and received her child (two of mine are now up thanks to our precious dogs) and didn't notice--until I was sitting here zoning on the screen--that I have my yoga pants on inside out. Nice.

I need to go back to bed. Maybe I can bribe the kids to be nice to each other for a couple hours so I can catch my LAST REM that obviously I miss with I get up before 9:00.

I've gotten better about being up early-maybe cause it's the only truly quiet time in my house? I like to meditate and do my yoga then. But, I always lay back down to nap for an hour or so in the mornings. I never got out of that habit, with having so many kids.

Does it count if you are returning someone's call? I called someone at 8:30 on Saturday but she had called me Friday night and asked a question about plans for Saturday. I didn't get the message until 10:30 pm Friday night and knew that was too late to call back then. I felt bad...she swore I didn't wake her up but she sounded groggy.

I SO hear you on this one. People are so rude for assuming that everyone else is on the same sleep schedule. It has helped that I'm a time zone ahead of some of my early-rising family. I know people sometimes find it inconvenient to have to wait to call in the morning, but I much more often find it inconvenient that it has gotten too late to call at night. This is why I think everyone should just send emails instead of calling!!

I forgot to mention that when we lived in England, my family had a knack for calling at 2am. Never failed. It got the to point where we gave the office John's cell number and unplugged the house phone. Even now, when I nap, I take the phone to bed with me, but turn it down low so it doesn't completely wake me, and put it under the pillow. LOL This way, I see who it is (just in case it's the school or whatever) and don't have to answer if I don't want to.
