Been there, done that...

All the comments on yesterday's post made me realize how we, the Been There Done That's, need to really speak out and tell these places our experiences.

I wonder how much money those places LOOSE due to this kind of prejudice, because I will never go back there. Regardless if I NEED make up... and really, I don't need it. But it's nice once and a while.

Speaking of which... at what age do girls learn that it's of the utmost importance to put on make up before they leave the house? And who lies to them?

Have you seen this commercial for Dove?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U

The woman is sooo beautiful even before all the make up... and then after the make up and photo shoot they use Photo Shop and fix all her flaws. I mean what on earth are we trying to communicate to our children?

That they should try to be something they are not? Some thing that is not even achievable except through Photo Shop?

What ever happened to "Be who God made you!" ??

I mean, really. Why do people try so hard to cover up who they are? Who are they trying to impress?

I could go on and on... obviously I don't wear make up and it SHINES through me that I am not vain enough to spend my hard earned dollars on thousands of dollars in the stuff.

Wait, Stop... Don't get mad. I know some of you BEAUTIFUL ladies out there wear make up and wear it every day and look fabulous! I am not saying you SHOULDN'T wear it at all. I am just saying that this society puts too much importance on looking perfect and I just don't think that should be. You are beautiful regardless of if you wear make up or not. If you choose to, fine. I like wearing it once and a while too (thus m y whole dilemma) but I don't think girls should be taught they should conform to this world and try to be something they are not....

Take it or leave it.

HMMMMMMMMMM......it has taken me a loooooong time to feel comfortable in my own skin. For once in my life I finally do. I used to be one of those where I can't leave the house without make up, hair, and acessories (sp) but now with 4 kids if I had that mentality I would never get out of the house, BUT WAIT, I never get out of the house period, If I do want to get out of the house I have to take a shower the night before if I want to go out clean, so now I am happy to see my bare skin in the mirror and not worry about all the bling, bling.

Let me say this one thing though, I LOVE MAKEUP! I love to play with make up, hair care products and perfume, LOVE IT! and I know Heather you already know this about me and I have no idea why. I know that even in Bible time women would fancy themselves up to look perty and wear perfume. The Bible does state that perfume brings joy to the soul, so who wouldn't use that as an exscuse to wear beautiful expensive perfume. Well before this gets any longer weather you wear make up or not I agree each of you Heather, you ladies and girls are beautiful just the way you are. Makeup is just the icing on the cake, the stripes on the candy cane, the leaves on the tree, they enhance the beauty God has already given us. Just my opinion, looking forward to see what others think

well I guess you know how I feel about this subject. LOL!

I too want my daughter to feel comfortable with how God made her. I've already stressed how God makes everything Wonderful including her.

However if she wants to wear makeup that's fine with me (she has some that she puts on sometimes.) I just don't want her to feel as if she can't ever be seen without it.

Heather, I have seen that commercial before and it is unBELIEVABLE!!!! I was shocked!! It's so sad! Want to feel even more sick - check this one out - I almost cried... http://youtube.com/watch?v=JaH4y6ZjSfE&feature=related
It makes me sick to think that my daughter will be subjected to this too!!!

We actually discussed this commercial in my last class. Amazing, isn't it?
I didn't wear make up until recently, and really only do because my skin is so splotchy and I'm so pale. I need color in a bad way. I want to pass down to Ella that she's beautiful period.
BTW, you know me. I'm one to tell the people exactly what the problem is. If I can't find a customer comment card/number/email or whatever, I call the store back and talk to a manager. No one, no matter what class, race, or shape, should go through this crap. Period.

First off. I want all those makeup/hair/stylist to come to my house and make me look like that. EVERYDAY!!!!!! ROFL

Heather, you knew I'd say that ;)

But really. I love makeup also. I wear makeup most days, but I dont wear it for anyone (anymore that is) but myself. I'm also the type to throw on a baseball cap, a coat and go to the store in my jammies. No makeup. Not caring who I run into. I am who I am. Take me or leave me.

My Dd (who's 12 going on 21) just started wearing makeup. Most days she wears it, but there are days where she could care less. If she wants to,that's fine. If she doesn't, that's fine too.

She's the one that has to be comfortable in her own skin. I hope out of many things I"ve taught her, she'll remember that.

As for the salesclerks in the store. I most definately would of said something. RIght then and there. But to the manager, w/the salesclerk there as well. THere's no reason to be rude and discourteous.

Oh one last thing. Lovin the new hairdo. I know its not what you wanted, but just keep telling yourself..it will grow back. That and atleast its not purple with pink stripes. LOL
